EDWARD (Eddy) PETER DRIMES January 16, 1946 - May 25, 2014 Suddenly, at the family cottage near Lac du Bonnet, my dear Eddy, devoted husband, awesome father, grandpa, brother, uncle and dear friend, passed away leaving a huge hole for all of us. Ed is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Donna, married almost 45 years, sons Dean (Tina), Dan (Charly), Craig (Tracy), his three beautiful and precious grandchildren Emma, Jeremy and James, sister Gerry (Dave) Hammond and family in Spruce Sands, brother Doug (Heather) Drimes and family in Alberta, brother-in-law Darryl Hannay (Pat) and family in Alberta, brother-in-law Dave (Gwenne) McMillan and family in Winnipeg, brother-in-law Dennis (Nell) McMillan and family in Alberta, sister-in-law Bonnie (Jack) Herselman and family in Winnipeg, our treasured friends Pete and Linda Wodchyc, Rob and Lauren Bilbey, Dave and Elaine Hardie, and many more close friends and family members. Ed was predeceased by his father (Phil), mother (Betty), sister Carol (Hannay), father-in-law Ivan, mother-in-law Edith, and two Drimes babies. Many nephews, nieces and the boys' friends considered Ed their 'adoptive' Dad. Numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins that were very close to him. Ed grew up in Old Kildonan and attended school at Red River, Edmund Partridge and West Kildonan Collegiate. Ed retired after a lengthy career including many years at Canada Packers and Palliser Furniture. Through his persistent hard work, Ed was an example of true dedication and commitment to his work and his family. His interest included sports (especially curling), dancing, fishing, coaching all his boys in soccer, hockey and football, and most importantly spending time with his family. Ed enjoyed relaxing with a cold beer or a nice glass of scotch. He was so excited for his upcoming fishing trip to Blue Lake in June with his old friend Terry. Ed always put his family first. The only item on his 'bucket list', was to take the entire family to Disney World. In February 2014. He was so happy and proud to be able to take the entire family to Disney World in Florida for an unforgettable vacation. Thank you for the last few years especially at our beautiful Pinawa Bay cottage, where we met many more friends and finally had more time just to spend together. Your appreciation of nature and the great outdoors truly showing just a few days ago when you were enlightened by that hummingbird brushing your hand as you hung up its feeder. Ed was an active member of the Lac du Bonnet Lions Club in recent years and was presently giving his commitment to organizing this years upcoming Canada Day parade. You were our Hero, our Rock, our Pillar of Strength and our Best Friend. God guide us to find the faith to accept that you have left us here on earth so we can carry on the way you would have wanted us to. Our hearts are entwined forever and ever until we can all meet again. Never did we expect to lose you so suddenly and so soon. We all love you so much. You will be with us always and our memories of you will be with us all forever. You so deserve to rest in peace. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Henderson Royal Canadian Legion at 3600 de Vries avenue from 2:00 until 5:00 pm. Please bring memories and photos to share.

We know that your family is your TREASURE which signifies the values that you held in life. Our sincerest condolences go out to all of you. Ed was deeply loved by all whose lives he touched. A very humble man who did not seek recognition but a man of great strength and encouragement to us all. A fine example of true Lionism..Serving Others ...May the Lord Bless you for all your Kindness. Donna, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We have fond memories of you and Eddy at our dance classes at Silverados, going to socials and just getting together for an evening when we still were in Winnipeg. My fondest memory of Eddy was when everyone would come over to our home after dance class, everyone would head to the basement except Eddy who would sit on the top step leading to our basement and share his first beer with Alex, our dog! They became very good buds over time. - Posted by: Russell & Judy Kosloski (Friends) on: Jun 03, 2014

I cannot think of Uncle Ed without a big smile on my face as he was an amazing man and someone who I always looked forward to seeing whenever we were able to make our way out to Winnipeg. As I got older, swapping sarcastic zingers to see which one of us could get a one up on the other first was a great game and the resulting belly laughs are something that I will hold close to my heart forever. I was blessed to call this man Uncle and know that he is now looking down on all of us, ready to deliver a swift kick in the rear should we forget why we are still here. Love with all your heart, live life to the fullest and never forget to show your family and friends just how much they mean to you. I love you dear Uncle even though you had horrible taste in alcohol and the shiny spot on your head always hurt my eyes. Lol. Cheers!! - Posted by: Tracy Wrubleski (Certainly I was his most favorite niece ever!) on: Jun 02, 2014

The Mehmel family of Old Kildonan send sincere condolences to the Drimes family. As the oldest Mehmel, Carol and I were best friends and I remember Eddy tagging along behind us as we walked to the soda fountain. Our job was to look after him, but I have a feeling he was sent along to keep us out of trouble. Eddy also had to chase the turkeys away so I could come in their yard. Fond memories of the whole family as we grew up in Old Kildonan. Linda (Mehmel) - Posted by: Linda Burdett (friend of Family from Old Kildonan) on: Jun 01, 2014

I am Lloyd Lamoureux's younger sister and being younger then the guys I remember Eddie teasing me all the years I knew him. Eddie never meant any harm by his teasing as I knew he loved my brother Lloyd and would never hurt his family. Rest in peace Eddie. Donna, I send my condolences to you and your family. My deepest sympathy to Donna and family. I remember Ed best as a good friend of Bill. Ed was a big part of Bill's life as they were growing up. I can still remember all the stories that Bill shared of their fun times. I wish you strength during this difficult time. - Posted by: Kathy Schmidt (Friend) on: May 31, 2014
