Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOVAN JOVANOVIC Dr. Jovan Jovanovic passed quietly on June 1, 2014, in the 86th year of his life, after a short illness in Toronto, Ontario. Jovan has joined his beloved wife, Anica, of 60 years, who predeceased him earlier this year, and they are at peace together. Jovan is survived by his loving children Goran and Vera, their dear spouses Susa and Fania, and four grandchildren: Natasha, Gregory, Roxanna and Kira. Jovan was born July 30, 1928, in Rakovica, Yugoslavia and moved to Canada to study Physics in 1955. After living in the United States and England in pursuit of his studies, he returned to Winnipeg in 1966 to become a Professor of Nuclear Physics at the University of Manitoba. In 2006 Jovan moved with Anica to Toronto to be with family. Jovan's research was on the link between energy consumption, economic growth, and human longevity. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Highland Funeral Home, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, 416-773-0933 (West of Warden Avenue.) A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the Jovanovic family has requested memorial donations may be given to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
