Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL MYTRO LYSAK Peacefully, with his family by his side, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Mytro Lysak on May 30, 2014 at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 81. Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his wife Anne of 19 years, his son Jason (Shantel), stepson James (Tamara), stepdaughter Linda (George), grandchildren Cole and Jessi, stepgrandchildren Jacey and Maddison, brothers Morris (Edna), Orest (Donna) and John (Diane), sisters Emily (Mike), Pauline, Ann (Peter) and Sonia (Ron), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Justina, and his brother Walter. Mike grew up on the farm in Hazel dell, Saskatchewan. He moved to Winnipeg and worked at Winnipeg Motors and Westport Chrysler before owning and operating his own business, "Active Auto Centre" for over 20 years. Following his retirement Dad and Anne moved to their lake home in Kenora, where they spent their summers and wintered in Texas. Dad loved the outdoors. He had a vibrant passion for gardening, growing beautiful flowers and the largest tomatoes you've ever seen. Concerning animals, Dad had a soft spot rescuing and sheltering many cats, birds and wild animals. He also enjoyed swimming, fishing, boating and entertaining family and friends at the cottage. Over the years Mike was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, where he served on the church committee for 15 years. He also was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Kenora and most recent attended St. John the Apostle Church. Mike was an active member of Knights of Columbus and an honorary life member. He was proud to have attended prayer groups, sponsored two children abroad, played drums in a band, taken ballroom dance lessons and completed a month long human development workshop in San Francisco. Dad was a gracious man who had a deep and abiding faith. He was best known for his radiant smile and warm nature. Everyone who knew him will remember that feisty and strong minded personality. Prayers will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, with Funeral Service taking place on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at St. John the Apostle Church, 31 Riel Ave, Winnipeg. The family wishes to invite everyone to join them for a time of fellowship and refreshment following the funeral service at St. Peter and Paul Church Parish Center, 390 Marion St., Winnipeg. Interment will take place at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery, Kenora on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. for those who would like to attend.
