RITA HOCH October 18, 1924 - June 6, 2014 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Rita Hoch. She is survived by her husband Mickey, sons Lyall (Darcie), Neil and Marc (Debbie) Meyers, grandchildren Laura, Michael, Jessica and Ariana. Rita was predeceased by her parents Elka and Hyim Segal, her seven brothers and sisters Morey, Gilbert, Percy, Bill, Albert, Carrol and Sylvia. Rita also leaves to mourn her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Rita was a very active, on-the-go type of person, she was always happy and not much got her down, nor did she ever complain. She loved to laugh and always wanted to stay young at heart! Not only was Rita a fabulous cook and baker, she had a zealous passion for acting and was cast in several performances, including Studio 22 and Rainbow Stage. Rita was president of B'nai B'rith Chapter and modeled for Hadassah and Pioneer Women fundraising events. Mickey and Rita enjoyed a life that many people would only dream of. They made their dreams come true. Rita was and is Mickey's inspiration. Rita and Mickey spent 44 wonderful years carving out a beautiful life for themselves. They travelled around the world on many occasions. They spent time in Asia, South America, Israel, Hawaii, Bahamas, Florida and the last 20 years in beautiful Palm Springs. Rita was an avid health nut, not only did she enjoy weight training and aerobics, she also enjoyed walking with Mickey around their gated community in Palm Springs. Mickey was truly her champion and best friend. He was a devoted husband right to the final day. Mickey's love for Rita was unconditional. Rita will be remembered for her gregarious and outgoing personality. Rita's keen sense of humour, caring ways and genuine interest in those around her defined her character. This world has lost a gentle, loving and brave soul. You will always be in our hearts every day. You were one amazing person and we will always love and remember you. A special thank you to Jocelyn for the loving care you provided and to Lisa, you were the perfect health care provider, companion and friend. A heartfelt thanks to all the home care staff, doctors and nurses at the Simkin Centre. Donations to Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, phone 204-477-7525 or Canadian Museum for Human Rights. "Those we love don't go away They walk beside us everyday, Unseen, unheard, but always near Still loved, still missed and very dear." We love you!
