DANIEL JAMES DEVINE April 13, 1953 - June 6, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving dad, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and long time friend to many. In typical Dan manner, he battled his last few months with cancer like Dan would - with humour, wit and a hint of sarcasm. He died peacefully at home in his sleep, surrounded by loved ones. Dan was always appreciative of his family's love and support, and he was grateful to spend many special moments with his children, brothers, sisters, mother and friends in his final days. Dan was predeceased by his father Jim, and brother Matthew. His memory will live on through his beautiful children Rachelle, Ryley and Dana; grandson Nathan; his loving mother Rosemary; brothers and sisters Susan (Robb), Ginny (Gary), Lorne, Jamie (Debbie), John (Rena), and Kevin, and extended family across North America. Dan grew up in the East Kildonan area, where he formed many friendships - some of which have endured a lifetime. Since he was a child, one of his favourite things was spending his time at the family cabin at Grand Beach. Particularly, when he had his own children and was able to share everything about this special place with them. He was a talented craftsman and meticulous about every project he started. In one way or another Dan left an unforgettable mark on everyone that crossed his path. He will be truly missed. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff throughout CancerCare and Palliative Care. A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Should friends desire, the family has asked contributions be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Manitoba Lung Association.

I am so sorry to hear of Danny's passing. I haven't lived in Winnipeg for many, many years, but I knew his family well until I was 16 (and I have visited since, in particular a few years ago, before his father, Jim, passed into the next life). I regret that I didn't know, as I would have travelled to Winnipeg to attend the funeral. The Holst family remembers many great times with the Devine family and I always admired Danny for his sense of humour and kindness. Our family has many fond memories of Grand Beach, as well, as the Devines graciously rented it to us for a couple of weeks each summer. My sympathies to the Devine family, especially, Rosemary. Rosemary and the Devines have crossed my mind many times, recently, and now I know why. I will keep the family in my prayers. Pat Holst - Posted by: Patricia Holst (Childhood friend) on: Jul 19, 2014

I was sorry to hear of Danny's passing. I'll always remember Dan's sense of humour. Rarely did he miss an opportunity to tease you about your missteps. Right now I have a smile on my face just thinking of this. My condolences to Danny's family. - Posted by: Rose Schellenberg (old friend) on: Jun 17, 2014
