ANNIE KOOP Annie was born on July 16, 1925 in Tschongrau, Crimea to Jakob and Anna Janzen. In spite of the political and economic turmoil of the time, she described her childhood as delightful; their home was filled with love, faith, laughter and music. When war broke out the men of her family were taken. However, she together with her mother and sister escaped to Germany and in time were able to come to Canada to reunite with her grandparents and extended family. In Canada she met Daniel Koop (a widower with 8 children). They married on April 30, 1960. Together they had two more children. Throughout her life, Annie's one constant was her faith in Jesus Christ. She showed her faith in service, prayer and selfless love for others in her workplace, community, church, and, especially, family. Annie worked hard and continually learned and advanced her skills to become an X-ray and laboratory technician and then a medical clinic manager. Annie volunteered for years in many ways. She also gave freely of her resources by financially supporting a variety of ministries and the people who served in them. Over the years, Annie and her husband Daniel also generously opened the door of their home to thousands of people. Annie cherished her family. Every day she prayed for every person in her family by name. Her prayers included extended family and many friends. She was always ready to listen, interested to hear about the lives of each family member and as a result spent many hours in person and on the phone, listening to others. Her love for family included supporting them by being present at their significant events. Annie deeply loved her Daniel. They met challenges and experienced the joys of life, together. They prayed together, laughed together, and continued to flirt with each other into their advanced years. When she became ill Daniel was a constant support to her. On June 9, 2014 Annie went through the door' to be with Jesus. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Daniel, children Irv (Lil) Koop, Eleanor (Bill) Kaethler, Irene (Allan) Labun, Vern (Agnes) Koop, Helen (John) Dyck, Erica (Jake) Enns, Viola (Ed) Giesbrecht, Elvira (Henry) Paetkau, Sherryl Koop, Lorie (Ralph) Mayer, her 29 grandchildren and 26 grandchildren-in-law, 64 great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren-in-law, six great-great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends. Annie was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Gerhard and Jacob, her dear sister Margarete (Gredel) and many other relatives. The family wishes to thank Dr. Carey Isaac and staff, Dr. Pat Harris and staff, HSC Women's staff of WRS5, Palliative Care team, and the caregivers of Tina's Tender Loving Care. In memory of Annie donations may be made to MB Mission for Dave and Louise Sinclair-Peters, or Square One World Media Inc. (formerly Family Life Network).
