Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINSTON CHARLES STRANGER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad and grandpa, Winston Stranger. Surrounded by his girls he passed away peacefully on June 13, 2014 at Betel Home Gimli. Winston will be dearly missed by his wife of 48 years, Joy; three daughters, Charmaine (Jeff), Cheryl (Kevin) and Kristin (Kevin); three grandsons, Ty, Brandon and Maxwell. Winston is survived by his brothers, Dennis, Ernest, Franklin and sisters, Annabelle, Jeanette, Ollie and Katherine; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Meagan; parents, Solomon and Annabella; brothers, Leslie, Frank, Melvin, Roderick, Earl, David, Freeman, Jim; sisters, Betty and Nellie May and parents-in-law, Joyce and Brodie. Winston was born on December 8, 1941 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He married the love of his life in 1965 and they raised their three girls in Gimli. He enjoyed family camping trips, curling, coffee with friends at the hotel and watching the Toronto Blue Jays. He was employed by Manitoba Hydro for 33 years, retiring in 1996. Although he had a quiet demeanor he is well remembered by those who spent time with him. His dry wit and mischievous ways bring a smile to the faces of those who knew him. He loved to hear stories of his grandsons' achievements and their time spent together was precious to them all. His fun spirit has left many of his friends and family with more than one amusing story to remember him by. Walk, run and dance, we will love you always. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service in celebration of Winston's life will be held at the Gimli New Horizons 55+ Centre, #17 North Colonization Road, on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society of Canada, Manitoba Division, 100-1465 Buffalo Pl., Winnipeg, R3T 1L8. The family would like to thank the staff at Betel for their care and compassion. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 Gimli 204-642-7124 neilbardalinc.com

Uncle Winston was my 'older brother'! We lived in Aspen Park and he lived with us and finished high school in Gimli. He took me to my first Teenage Dance on Base, took me with him and his high school friends to Saturday Morning Bowling and just let me 'hang out' with him! I must have been a pest at times, as all 'little sisters' could be, but he never, ever showed that to me! I remember when he and Joy started dating, and he brought her to our house. Joy made us Kraft Pizza! Wow! Great Memories all around. Never gone from our hearts or memories! Uncle Winston was one of a kind! Our deepest sympathy in your loss. Winston was a friendly, thoughtful and caring person. A day never went by that Winston wouldn't give me a smile and a high five as we met in the halls at Betel. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Jim and Gloria Yaremkiewich (Friend ) on: Jun 14, 2014
