DONNA LEE HAMRLIK
Date of Passing: Jun 06, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONNA LEE HAMRLIK July 1948 - June 2014 Donna passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Left to cherish Donna's memory are her sister Valerie Botwright; brother Byron (Wanda) Hamrlik; nieces Britanny and Lauren Hamrlik; Angel Olafson (Donald) and great-niece Rayne. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Agnes Hamrlik; baby sister Lynn; and brother-in-law Stewart Botwright. Donna (Dee) was born and raised on a farm near Hodgson, Manitoba amongst loving family, friends and neighbours. Even after she left Hodgson, Dee returned to visit dear Auntie Anne Hamrlik whom she called "my other mother" and lifelong friends, the Bell sisters. Her nieces and grand-niece were her pride and joy. After Mom's death Donna moved to Winnipeg where she began a life of retirement in her new home at Fred Tipping Place. There she gained the love and respect of tenant-friends who appreciated her humorous, caring and giving nature. Donna was famous for her banana bread and had a never-ending order for it. She loved volunteering for the lunch program, bingos, cribbage, shuffle board tournaments and many social events. Her favourite time of the year was Christmas, when she could bake and buy gifts for family, friends, and all of her "adopted grandbabies". Donna thoroughly enjoyed time spent at the Christian Fellowship Chapel. She was an associate member of Royal Canadian Legion Branches #158 and #252. A Celebration of Donna's Life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Christian Fellowship Chapel, 465 Osborne Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with Chaplain Paul Holbrook officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Special thanks to Dr. R. Lotocki and staff at CancerCare St. Boniface. Grace Hospice staff, you are indeed angels on earth. Respecting Donna's wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hodgson Cemetery Fund, Box 135, Hodgson, Manitoba, R0C 1N0. In loving memory of my "aunt" Donna who always made me feel a welcome part of the family. I enjoyed spending time with you and "Auntie Agnes" at the farm as a youngster - especially going to bingo as a family at the legion in Hodgson. You were a special, warm and loving person and you will be missed. Love always to you as you are now in God's loving arms.
