His journey in life brought him to Concordia Place Nursing Home where he spent three quality years that were filled with amazing care, compassion, laughter and love. Tom loved each and every one of you at the home and the family would like to express our sincere gratitude to you all. Pam thank you for all of the precious moments you gave Dad. Tom was my Step Grandpa. Although not officially a member of our family till the eighties, Tom has been a part of our family for as long as I can remember, especially at Bird Lake. He was always there and I remember him as a nice, quiet man. He was like an Uncle to us. If I could talk to Tom, I would thank him for always being there when you needed him, for being so understanding and non-judgemental, for being so helpful and full of knowledge. I would thank him for his bravery and courage in the Second World War. For being so supportive to Patrick and myself in our body shop, especially in our early years, and mostly I would thank him for being such a perfect partner to my Grandma (June), for keeping her safe and happy, and for being a great part of our lives and family. Thank you Tom. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Donald McBride (Step Grandson) on: Jun 20, 2014

My Grandpa was an amazing man. I have a large amount of memories of him that I will never forget. Not only did he teach me many things he inspired me. Our fishing trips together (when he taught me how to tie my lures and knots), our building of many wooden things (even though it took hours to find everything in his "should keep this as it will be handy 1 day" pile), to just spending hours by the bonfire or sitting in a lawn chair. We had numerous camping trips together, most of them involving his dog King. Between King and I he was pretty busy! I will miss the one piece jammies with the feet at xmas, the cadbury eggs in the carton at easter and most of all his kind encouraging words. He was the one person that kept our family strong, through thick and thin with his positivity and big bear hugs while he patted you on the back and said take care. He never said goodbye it was "see you soon". Until I see you again love you Grandpa. Cindy (Robertson) Bushell - Posted by: Cindy (Fir) on: Jun 19, 2014

Grandpa Tom We spent many wonderful years with you. My Grandma (Nanny) and you were soulmates, married for many years and together many years prior to that. All the memories we have span well over 30 years. My children who are 32 and 26, you were their grandfather since their births. We were blessed to have you as our grandfather at an early age and have many memories to hold dear. From your favorite "Lemon desserts", and you were always the smartest at the crosswords. You truly were a gentle giant, only ever had good things to say. You are loved and will be forever missed. Nanny and you are now reunited. - Posted by: Dean & Sherry Swain & family (Granddaughter) on: Jun 15, 2014

My Grandfather Tom was my grandpa my whole life of 26 years, he was predeseased by my loved grandmother June also known as Nanny and they were married for over 25 wonderful years. I remember growing up with him making wooden lawn ornaments and wirly jigs. Christmas Eve's were always a surprise when you used to spend it at our house overnight to open presents in the morning until we started getting you guys up at 5 am to open when you would rather sleep in lol - and every Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter was spent at a family dinner at my other grandfathers and grandmothers house. It will never be the same without you guys. You even shared the same kind of pie as me!!
