EDGAR (SANDY) JAMES CLANCY November 14, 1931 - June 12, 2014 We are very sad to announce the sudden passing of Sandy beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Sandy was predeceased by his loving wife, Joan, of 52 years, on April 7, 2009. He was also predeceased by his siblings Raymond, Dennis, Victor and Margaret. He is survived by his children, Maureen (Larry), Gregory (Tessie), Brian, his grandchildren Amanda (Ian), Scott (Kelly), Jenna (Michael), Jordan and Kevin, his sister, Jeanette, sisters-in-law Irene, Doreen, Bertha and Esther as well as numerous nephews and nieces, including his very special niece, Karen. Sandy enjoyed a lengthy career with Paul's Hauling. He was born in Margo, Saskatchewan and later moved to Winnipeg where he met his wife, Joan. They enjoyed many years of travel and golf with friends and family and many happy occasions spent in Ashern, Manitoba. The family would like to thank Sandy's special friend, Anna, for the wonderful care and compassion she showed him in his final years. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be arranged. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association in Sandy's memory.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • A young child often has few memories of the older generation of our parents, and my recollections begin at the "older" age of 16 when my family moved to Winnipeg from Saskatchewan. Sandy and Joan opened their home to us while we waited to move into our new house, and so I got to know my Dad's brother and his family as we settled in the same area of North Kildonan. There was always lots of laughter in the house, and backyard BBQ's - I particularly enjoyed my three young cousins! Listening to the stories told around the kitchen table, I learned that my Mom (Irene) actually first met Sandy, only a few months older than her, who subsequently introduced her to Ray (my Dad). A close friendship continued, along with Irene's brothers (Henry and Stan) - and according to Henry, it was Sandy (with Henry) who went joy-riding in Ray's car on the day of Ray & Irene's wedding, with the result being that they ran out of gas late that night when leaving the wedding party for their honeymoon! All must have been forgiven, since Mom & Dad moved to Winnipeg that next winter, before returning once again to Saskatchewan. Having lived in B.C. since the early 70's, I seldom returned to Winnipeg but had re-connected with Sandy and the family in the last few years - enjoying visits there and in Kelowna. The last time I spoke to Sandy when he was home from hospital in March, he was planning another visit to the Okanagan this summer. So sad that it will not happen. I offer very sincere condolences to the family, and also from my Mom, Irene. There will always be a special place in our hearts for the memories of Sandy and the good times. - Posted by: Karen Coon (Niece) on: Jun 16, 2014
