JOHN LESLIE PATTERSON February 10, 1931 - June 15, 2014 After a lengthy illness, John Leslie Patterson passed away on June 15, 2014. He will be sadly missed by son Robert, wife Loreen, and their children, Kaitlyn and Jennalee; daughter Shayla, husband Roger and their children, Braeden and Andrew; as well as numerous family members and friends. As one of five children, John grew up on a farm in Morden, Manitoba and later moved to Winnipeg with his wife. Dad had a lengthy career at the Winnipeg School Division as a mechanical engineer, then supervisor. He was an avid outdoorsman who had many stories of fishing and hunting trips with family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed snapping pictures of his favourite animals and making his backyard a welcoming place for them to visit. Dad loved his annual berry picking days and sharing the fruit with others. He had a keen interest in coin collecting, as well as venturing out to garage and estate sales to find unique items. He loved working on vehicles, and was known to be able to fix just about anything! One of Dad's greatest sources of pride, were his four grandchildren, whose company he could never get enough of. He is now, once again, reunited with the love of his life, Gladys. Many thanks to the staff at Deer Lodge Centre who cared for Dad in his final months. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Wiebe Funeral Home in Morden, Manitoba. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in lieu of flowers.
