FRIEDRICH (FRITZ) COST Peacefully on June 13, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer, Frtiz, 84, passed away at Riverview Health Centre. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 56 years, Hilde; daughter Doreen; grandchildren Julie and Thomas; sister Inge and family in Germany. Fritz immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1952. He worked in Saskatchewan and Ontario, where he met Hilde. They came to Winnipeg, married, and built a life together. He loved to be outdoors working in the yard, cutting and chopping firewood or picking mushrooms and blueberries. His favourite seat was behind the wheel and he and Hilde made many road trips across Canada and the United States. He enjoyed helping others and was always there when you needed him. Fritz was a longtime member of the Kolping Society of Winnipeg and the Parochial Society of St. Joseph's. He was an active parish member until cancer would no longer allow him to be. The family would like to thank his wonderful home care nurse, Ann, and the excellent staff at Riverview for their compassion and care. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews Street. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. 204-586-8044
