Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • My thoughts and prayers go out to Ron's family. I hope fond memories of him bring warmth to your hearts soon. Even though we were only co-workers, we shared many stories about family and other life experiences. Ron reminded me what was really important in life. I was very fortunate to get to know him and will always remember him as a positive influence in my life. Your friend always, Monica. - Posted by: Monica Fedorchuk (Friend and Co-worker) on: Jul 15, 2014

  • "... I came up here from the monastery last night, sloshing through the cornfield, said Vespers, and put some oatmeal on the Coleman stove for supper. It boiled over while I was listening to the rain and toasting a piece of bread at the log fire. The night became very dark. The rain surrounded the whole cabin with its enormous virginal myth, a whole world of meaning, of secrecy, of silence, of rumor. Think of it: all that speech pouring down, selling nothing, judging nobody, drenching the thick mulch of dead leaves, soaking the trees, filling the gullies and crannies of the wood with water, washing out the places where men have stripped the hillside! What a thing it is to sit absolutely alone, in the forest, at night, cherished by this wonderful, unintelligible, perfectly innocent speech, the most comforting speech in the world, the talk that rain makes by itself all over the ridges, and the talk of the watercourses everywhere in the hollows! Nobody started it, nobody is going to stop it. It will talk as long as it wants, this rain. As long as it talks I am going to listen. ..." Thomas Merton, 1966 Thank you Ron, teacher, mentor and loyal friend. You are missed. Mary - Posted by: Mary Shariff (Friend and colleague) on: Jun 19, 2014

  • Ronnie you have accomplished so much in your life and it is so sad that you are gone. I have such fond memories of us spending all the holidays together either at our house, your house or at Nanna and Joe's. We were so close then and it is such a shame that we all have gone our own ways and have lost touch over the years. I have often thought of you and how you are doing. My heart goes out to your family and my thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Laurie Smith (Todd) (cousin) on: Jun 18, 2014
