PATRICIA M SCOTT (DODD) (nee AMBROSE) It is with great sadness Shelley, Jacqueline and Heather announce the passing of their mother Pat on June 8, 2014 with her family at her side, after a valiant and determined struggle with cancer. Pat leaves behind to mourn her, her daughters Shelley (Russ), grandsons Cameron and Mitchel (Travis and Tyler); Jacqueline (Ian) great-granddaughters Allysa and McKenna (who knew her as Gigi); Heather (Tim), grandsons Paul, Adam and Nicholas; stepsons Steve (Max) granddaughter Madison and grandson Owen, and Jeff (Ashley and Jordon); her eldest daughter Pamela's children, granddaughter Nicolle (Craig) and great-grandchildren Emily and Chase, grandson Trevor (Diana and pending great-grandchild). In addition to her immediate family, Pat also leaves to mourn her, her brother Rodney (Mariam), nephews Grant (Mel and Tyler), Brian (Lynn and Isaiah) and Derek (Joy-Anne and Anneliesa) and their mother Margaret; sister Linda (Ken), nieces Andrea and Erin; her brother Donald and niece Christina (John), Brady, Abby, and Corina and nephew Kevin (Lyndsey), Zach, Tyrone and Delilah, and her sister Dianne (Lawrence), nephew Trevor as well as numerous family members in the Ambrose, Vier and Dodd families. Also left behind and lost, her beloved Brandy, her 11 year old black standard poodle. Pat was predeceased by her eldest daughter Pamela in 2010, as well as her parents, William and Edith Ambrose, her parents-in-law Fredrick and Rose Dodd; her husband Vernon Dodd and her husband Milton (Scotty) Scott. Pat's greatest joy in life were her four daughters and their offspring, she relished her role as a stay at home mom. Pat initially started her working life with Manitoba Telephone System and later BC Telecom before starting P&M Scott Trucking, a long distance hauler operating from British Columbia through Alberta and the Southern United States West Coast. In support of her family, Pat resided in Winnipeg, MB, Thunder Bay, ON, Campbell River, BC, Victoria, BC, and Cobble Hill, BC before finally retiring to a nice bungalow in the Songhees Retirement Village in Esquimalt, BC. Pat was a quiet, compassionate private person although strong-willed in her principles and watched over her family with a strong disciplinary mantra. She was always giving of herself and travelled on numerous occasions from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland in support of her daughter Pamela in her time of need. Pat was at her side on her passing. She also had time to travel to weddings and funerals to support various family members in their happy and sad times. She was an accomplished musician, playing piano, piano accordion and harmony guitar. She played in her teenage years with her father and brothers in the family orchestra. In a final act of compassion, Pat gave of herself so that another may have sight. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Pat's life will be held at a later date to accommodate her vast and far flung family still living from Coast to Coast. At this time her family wishes to thank her family physician Dr. Aiken and especially wish to thank the entire team at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital Hospice Care Centre for their compassion and outstanding care given to Pat and her family in her final days. If anyone so desires donation in Pat's memory can be made at a charity of your choice, and especially the Jubilee Hospice Care Centre Foundation (www.victoriahospice.org) or your regional CancerCare Foundation.
