JOSEPHINE DOLYNCHUK Peacefully, on June 17, 2014, Josephine (Josie) passed away at the Holy Family Nursing Home at the age of 98. Josephine spent most of her life on the family homestead between Caliento and Vita, MB, where she met and married her husband William (Bill) and raised their five children. She loved to be outdoors tending her many gardens, caring for their many animals (including wild ones she often 'tamed'), harvesting wild fruits and mushrooms that grew in abundance around their vast wooded acreage and cooking and canning her many crops and berries. One of Baba's (Josie's) greatest joys was her family and spending time with them teaching them the value of hard work, charity and kindness, sharing her many stories about "the old days" and passing down her Ukrainian heritage and many wonderful recipes. It was not unusual to see as many loving children and grandchildren as adoring domestic animals following her about her duties on their large family farm on any given day. Josephine was also very active in both her community and the church, where she and her husband William faithfully served as custodians and guardians of St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church (built immediately adjacent to their homestead) for many years. She instilled the true value of faith in her entire family and always reminded us of the power of kindness and charity through action every day. Josephine was predeceased by her daughter Rosalynd in 1993 and her husband of 77 years William in 2011. She leaves to mourn her children Emile, Eugene, Albert (Jackie), Ollivia, grandchildren Timothy (Shandel), Adrienne (Murray), Cameron, Amber and Chelsie, along with numerous extended family members and friends. Always full of life and laughter, she will be finally laid to rest beside the church and homestead she worked so hard to tend while caring for her loving family her entire life. She will be missed beyond words. Services will be held at St. John's Ukrainian Catholic church in Caliento Manitoba on Monday June 23rd, 2014 at 10:30 am. Vita Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
