Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY NEIL MCLAUGHLIN July 3, 1954 - June 16, 2014 With heavy hearts we tell of Neil's unexpected passing in Winnipeg from COPD complications. Gentle in spirit, welcoming and open to anyone, generous beyond his means, Neil touched many lives doing all he could to befriend and aid. Passionate about family, friends, his community, and society as a whole, he had strong convictions and did his best to include the rest of us in them. If you were fortunate enough to be his friend, you knew him to be a truly genuine person with a keen (and often inappropriate!) sense of humour, a big kid at heart. Creative himself, Neil much enjoyed playing and listening to music of all kinds; and greatly appreciated all artists and craftsmen. Beloved by his pets, he hosted a memorable cast of characters over the years for all to love: Pete, Snivvy, Boodles, and Johnny. Neil will be sorely missed for his caring nature, out of the box ideas, penciled letters on recycled paper, and his unconventional wisdom. Always in our hearts, rest in peace. Preceded in death by grandparents Thomas and Edith McCallum, Viola McLaughlin, and Harry McLaughlin, and father, Wm. Royden McLaughlin. Survived by mother, Shirley Schultz, brother Ross McLaughlin, sister Ann McLaughlin, all of Hudson, WI; special aunt Bonnie McClelland (Bill Notz) of Winnipeg; cousin Robyn McClelland and her daughter Rowan of Seattle; Andrew Young, Pt. Hardy, BC; uncles Doug, Bruce, and Alan (Erica) McLaughlin; Aunt Lenore McLaughlin; niece and nephews Michelle, David, Dennis and Ryan; longtime friends Gunther Briese, Brent Dobson, Moira Wilson - he cherished you; many kind folks in Middlebro and Sprague. Special thanks to cousin Cathy Vennels for caretaking Johnny. Cremation has occurred, interment at a later date at Sunnyside Cemetery, Birds Hill, MB. Donations may be made in Neil's memory to Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715
