GRANT M ASHCROFT
Date of Passing: Jun 27, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRANT M ASHCROFT With deep sorrow we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father and grandfather on June 27, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. Grant was a loyal husband to his loving wife Patricia of 53 years. He also leaves to mourn his daughters Lori-Lyn (Kevin) and Jodi (Brad). He was a wonderful Papa to his grandchildren Tyler, Tanner, Leigh and Lauryn. Grant is also survived by his sister Glenda and nephews Warren (Marie), Guy (Terry), Michael and John (Janelle) as well as nieces Wendy (Bruce), Joy (Darryl) and their families. Grant was born August 29, 1940 and was proud to have grown up in the North End. In his youth Grant delivered papers for the Tribune, was a delivery boy for Orlikow Pharmacy and worked part time at Safeway. He then went on to spend nearly 40 years in the printing industry. Grant and Pat were married June 24, 1961 and settled in West Kildonan where they raised their family. He always had a love of nature and wildlife and we often had a menagerie of creatures in the house including snakes, fish, chickens, geese and ducks. Grant was an avid hunter and fisherman in his prime, enjoying many trips with friends. He was also a longtime member of St. Jo's Wildlife Association. He loved spending time at his 62 acres near Beausejour, enjoying nature and his trout pond. Grant and Pat travelled out to British Columbia many times to visit Jodi and Brad where he had many adventures but especially enjoyed the fishing. He was very excited to have landed a 38 lb Chinook Salmon. After retirement they sold the acreage and purchased their cozy cabin at Beaver Creek on Lake Winnipeg where they spent 15 wonderful summers. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren's accomplishments and spent as much time as he could with them. Papa passed on his vast knowledge of nature and science with many interesting and odd stories which will be remembered. The family would like to thank the Seven Oaks Hospital nurses on U6 and U1 for their kindness and compassion. As per Grant's wishes there will be no formal service. A private family celebration of his life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160 675 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.

Grant is/was/will always be my favorite uncle, actually he was more like an older brother and friend than an uncle, and we (Marie and I and Blake and Kirk) will really miss him. - Posted by: Warren Champagne (Nephew) on: Jul 02, 2014
