Date of Passing: Jul 01, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK YANISHEWSKI It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Frank Yanishewski. Dad was born October 3, 1918 and passed away peacefully in the early hours of July 1, 2014 at Betel Home. Frank was predeceased by his wife Pauline, brothers Norman Janis and Bill Scotch and sisters Jean Howelko and Verna McLean. He is survived by his children: Connie (Tom), Delaine, Valerie (Stephen), Michael (Laura), Gayle (Robert) and David; his grandchildren Steven (Ebony) and Jonathon Phinney, Jeff (Jamie) and Mark Yanishewski, Claire and Scott Newman and great-granddaughter Teagan Phinney. He is also survived by sister Eileen (John) Morley, brothers-in-law Bill Bohonos and Roy McLean and sister-in-law Bev Janis. Dad was born in Winnipeg Beach and moved as a young boy to the family farm in the Dnister area. He farmed there his entire life working hard, along with his family, to take a small farm to a prosperous dairy and beef operation. He and Pauline married in 1952 and had 25 happy years together. He missed her every day after her death. Dad's main focus was his family and farming, but he also enjoyed fishing, especially fly-in fishing with son-in-law Tom. Dad always enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbours. He travelled to New Zealand to visit Valerie and her family and also to Fiji, Florida and Hawaii. Many times he visited family in Toronto. After retirement he loved his daily drives around the sections. Sometimes accompanied by his brother-in-law Bill he kept a keen eye on seasonal changes in crops and livestock. In his early 90s as Dad slowed down he moved into Betel Home. Pretty soon the halls echoed with polka music from his cd player. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB. Flowers are gratefully declined. Any memorial donations if you wish can be made to Betel Home Foundation or Dnister Memorial Cemetery. The family sends a grateful thank you to the staff, especially the awesome nursing staff, of Betel Home. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
