GUY PAUL JOSEPH FONTAINE On July 2, 2014 in the arms of his beloved wife, with his family by his side, Guy passed away after a six month battle with cancer. He was 60 years old. Guy was born at the St. Boniface Hospital to Claudette and Paul Fontaine. He was the sixth of 11 children. He was a dedicated man who took pride in his position as front store manager at Shoppers Drug Mart for 40 years. Guy was a born leader whose charisma left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed curling, biking, and most of all baseball. He truly lived life to the fullest and enjoyed being the life of the party. His passion was spending time with his family. In the summers you would find "GiGi" and "DeeDee" camping around a fire. In the winter they could be found on a beach in Mexico enjoying a drink and the waves of the ocean. He was a dedicated father, loyal friend, and the best grandpa (Papa) a grandchild could ask for. Guy leaves behind his wife Diane, son Paul (Anne), daughter Jessica (Cary), grandchildren: PJ, Aleecia, Danica, Madelyn, John, Breanna, Sidney, and Emily. Brothers and sisters: Normand (Evelyn), Denis (Georgina), Paulette (Alan), Roberta (Rick), Robert, Irene, Theresa, and Lucille. Predeceased by his parents Paul and Claudette, father-in-law Laurent Catellier, and brothers Eugene and Raymond. A funeral service celebrating Guy's life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street. Burial will follow the reception in St. Malo Parish Cemetery. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

Just like that great man you also were a man of great peace and love. The world will never be the same without you in it. • Guy was a great mentor and colleague during my starting years as a Parmacist/Owner in his role as a Front Store Manager. He had immense knowledge and experience in an environment that was totally new to me and I was able to learn from him. His dedication to his store(s), staff, and of course customers always was first and foremost. Many great people have come through his leadership and mentorship and in turn have positively affected many more. Your open and giving presence will be missed! May our Creator and Lord comfort Diane, Paul, Jessica and family and bring encouragement and grace through His love and compassion. - Posted by: Hans Epp (Past colleague) on: Jul 06, 2014

  • There were many things to admire Guy for. His passion for his work, his dedication to his family, and his love of life. I can remember when he would come in on his extremely well deserved day off, with his wife helping him, and his daughter who was very young playing barbies on the floor behind my cosmetic counter. They are a family in every essence of the word, and people he would do anything for. I am honored to have had the chance to work with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time. - Posted by: Kathleen McOuat (co-worker) on: Jul 05, 2014

  • Guy's love for babies (children) impressed me tremendously. I've seen him pick up babies/toddlers and just hug them with little kisses on their forehead. I've noticed how good he was to my brother when he was hospitalized. He never hesitated to go visit him with Diane. Although I did not know him well, I know his family meant the world to him. In parting, I can only say bad things happen to good people. Rest in peace, Guy. Ev Hodson - Posted by: Ev Hodson (My nieces husband) on: Jul 05, 2014
