SOPHIE JURKOWSKI Peacefully, with her family at her side, Sophie passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Middlechurch Home at the age of 92. Sophie is predeceased by her husband Louis; brothers, Tony and John; and sisters, Helen and Gladys. She is survived by her two sons, Fred (Val) and Len (Bernice); grandchildren, Kelley (Lindsay), Lindsay (Sean), Dana (Darcy), Tyler (Jackie), Ryan (Marlo) and Karen; great-grandchildren, Liam, Emmett, Mason, Quinn, and Sydney; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sophie grew up in Winnipeg and in the 1940s, she moved to Toronto to find work. She returned to Winnipeg to meet her husband Louis. Sophie made her home in North Kildonan where she raised her family. During this period she also enjoyed many social and volunteer activities through bowling, Telephone Pioneers and Foresters. The family acknowledges and thanks all the staff at the Middlechurch Home for the many years of dedication and heartfelt care of our dear mother. A private family service will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sophie's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. CROPO 204-586-8044
