ROBERT MICHAEL PAWELLA September 27, 1955 - July 6, 2014 Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital, Michael passed away after a lengthy illness. He is predeceased by his mother, Gertrude and father, Karl Pawella. Left to remember him - his soul mate for 20 years, wife Cathy Pawella, daughter Teresa Metalinos, (Julius Banares) granddaughters, Amanda Clement, Brooke Metalinos, stepchildren Keely Morgan (Chris Rodrigues), Aiden Morgan, step-grandchild Katarina Rodrigues, brother Stanley Pawella (Carla), sisters Catherine Diakiw, Linda Pawella, nephews Billy and Darren Pawella, mother-in-law, Joyce Johnsrude, sister-in-law Wendy Hill (Ron), and his sweet bundle of fur, Holly. In his younger years, he enjoyed track at school and later playing tennis and fishing. He loved to listen to Rock and Roll and was a huge Beatles fan. He taught his wife the appreciation of watching old movies because he said that is when there were the great actors. He had a great interest in history, especially the Second World War. He was known for his sense of humour and loved to see people laugh. His favourite memory was that of having his then young granddaughter, Amanda on his lap looking out onto Blue Lake in the middle of the night and appreciating the solitude. Michael was a man that loved his family and always wanted the best for them. Teresa, Amanda and Brooke were very close to his heart. In his last months he talked about how he hoped that his advice and encouragement to them would make their paths in life a more gentle one than he had endured. He worked many odd jobs when he was younger until becoming a Journeyman Electrician where he joined the IBEW Local 2085. Over the years, he was kept away from his family working at Fort McMurray, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, northern Manitoba and Ontario. This allowed him to make close friendships with his IBEW brothers, especially with his best friend of over 20 years, Gerry Trylinski. The family would like to thank St. Vital Home Care for their excellent, loving care the last months of his life and thank you to the staff at 5E of the St. Boniface Hospital for giving him the comfort he needed to come to the end of his journey. Cremation has taken place. At his request, a celebration of his life will occur in the fall, his favourite time of year. Although we're apart, you are forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
