Barry & I just found out this sad sad news--so shocked & saddened by the news from Linda's nephew that she had passed away. Linda was an awesome person; so caring, so honest, & who always put everyone else 1st. Linda always helped us on our Bingo Bowls, raising lots of money for 'no kill animal shelters. Linda was a friend of Barry's & also his hairdresser for years. We love you Linda .... and will miss you so much. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to your family and to all those you held so dear. God has a special angel with Him now. Please Lord wrap your arms around our dear friend Linda & give her a special hug & kiss from both of us. - Posted by: Linda & Barry (Longtime friends) on: Aug 21, 2014

I was a customer and friend of Linda's from East Kildonan to King's Kuts and I always enjoyed her no nonsense realistic approach to life. She cared about her customers and their families as if they were her own. We were saddened by her loss and send our condolences to her family and friends. Peace be with you. - Posted by: Norm Norris (customer/frend) on: Aug 06, 2014

Very sorry to read about about Linda's passing. As a long-time customer of hers for over 25 years, first at the barber shop in East Kildonan and then in West Kildonan on Main Street, I will miss the hair cut visits. Condolenses to her family and friends. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Bill K. (Customer) on: Jul 12, 2014

Linda was always the first to lend a hand, clean up after a meal, offer advice or a shoulder. She was a good heart. Our gatherings will be much smaller without her. - Posted by: Kim and darren () on: Jul 11, 2014

Very sorry to hear of Linda's passing. I was lucky enough to have Linda's brother Ken as my hockey coach for many years and thus was blessed to get to know the family very well. Enjoyed the years with Linda up in the stands encouraging us and cheering for us very loudly. Then seeing Linda support the new generation of hockey players, such as my son, often passing on a few bucks for playing a great game. I enjoyed our chats when I was getting my haircut. No matter what I shared with Linda, I always left feeling better and with the knowledge she supported me. Rest in peace, you will be missed. - Posted by: Rob Jones (Family Friend) on: Jul 11, 2014

Linda started cutting my hair when I was 6 years old. Over the next 34 years our friendship developed to where I considered her like a sister and one of my best friends. A funny, sassy lady with a down-to-Earth attitude and a flair for calling it as she saw. Nobody can ever take the place of the amazing, funny, witty Linda King. Fiercely loyal to her, for the last 6 weeks I have been driving by her shop hoping to get another "nobody does it better" haircut, along with a "good meeting of the minds" that we would always have. I was devastated to see the poster on the window giving the sad news. My condolences to all her friends and family. Let us all remember her in good spirit for she was a special person that made an impression in so many people's lives. - Posted by: Chris Sh (Long Time Friend and Customer) on: Jul 10, 2014

Linda was a great spirit with a lot of fire in her. She was a very giving person who cared deeply about those around her. I had the pleasure of spending time with her at family functions and was blessed to have known her through my friend Scott, one of her nephews. I could listen to her stories for hours and would expect nothing less than her honest opinion on anything! Even after getting married and having a family of my own, she adopted them too as her own. I will always remember her as Auntie Linda. - Posted by: Jamie Nolan (Family friend) on: Jul 10, 2014

Condolences to the family. I was a customer of Linda's but it was like visiting family. She always wanted to see pictures of my children and then grandchildren and we would always get caught up on what had happened since my last visit. I passed by frequently looking for news and was just devastated to hear she had passed. I will always cherish the time we spent together. - Posted by: Phil H. (Customer) on: Jul 10, 2014

Linda always checked up on my Dad who lived across the street. We were very grateful to have had her there since we all grew up and away. Goodbye Linda. We, your many neighbours and customers, never expected to get this kind of news. Everyday your customers came by to check if you were back yet. Many of them stopped in to the toy shop to ask if there was any news yet. We were all so sure you would be back soon working tirelessly the way you always did. We were all waiting to hear the stories of your adventure. You will be missed by many and West Kildonan will never be the same without you. - Posted by: Twyla Motkaluk (Newbridge Toy Shop) on: Jul 09, 2014

Linda has been cutting my hair for almost 40 years. She has been cutting my son Lorne's hair for his entire life (23 yrs). Going to her shop was like a visit with an old friend, catching up on what is going on and there was always good banter between Linda and the customers who were waiting. She is missed and can't be replaced. - Posted by: Glen Smyth (client/friend) on: Jul 09, 2014

I met Linda almost 30 years ago while living in Swan River. When I moved to Winnipeg, we renewed our friendship and I became a loyal customer of hers. I visited her many times at her cottage at Winnipeg Beach. This was her favourite place. She spoke of how, when she retired, she would live there. Goodbye, Linda. You will be missed by all your friends and acquaintances. No one gave a haircut like you did. Hopefully, we will see each other again on the other side. - Posted by: Jerry Tretiak (Friend and long-time customer) on: Jul 09, 2014

We spent a little time together. Linda's dad knew my dad years ago. Her dad was my dad's boxing coach. Jim "baby face" Saunders. They had history together. Linda became my daughter's Godmother in 1987. They went to see the 'titanic' movie when it came out and both came home crying. She took care of her God daughter's hair. She has nice hair Linda.
