DENNIS GERALD OTTENBREIT
Date of Passing: Jul 07, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDENNIS GERALD OTTENBREIT Dennis Ottenbreit, also known to his family and friends as "The Prince of Winnipeg" suddenly but peacefully passed away on July 7, 2014 at the age of 67. In the physical world, left to mourn his passing are his children, Cheryl and Jeffrey; his son-in-law, Paul and daughter- in-law, Calista; grandchildren, Triston, Annah-lea and Caleb; siblings, Sandra (Hugh), Donna, Joanne (James), Terry (Steve), Jimmy, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Dennis was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the heart of Elmwood, in the little blue house on Harbison Ave. He was predeceased by his father, Gerald; mother, Ida and his baby sister Darlene (Randy). In his youth, despite his disability, he was an active man who played many sports, accomplished many things and worked hard to change stereotypes. He was driven, opinionated, tenacious, determined and strong-willed. Dennis worked at various jobs to support his family and was a successful, self-proclaimed entrepreneur. Dennis will be greatly missed for his generosity, kindness, his outgoing nature and his sense of humour. He was sensitive, sympathetic, strong and sweet. He was a loving man, who cared deeply for his family and friends. He was highly regarded and will be missed by many. Dennis loved being in the company of family and friends. He loved to make people laugh and would do anything to bring a smile to someone's face. Most of all, he was extremely proud of his children for their accomplishments and he wasn't too shy to tell the world how much he loved his children and grandchildren "from the bottom of his heart." The utmost thanks, appreciation and gratitude are sent to the doctors, nurses and health care professionals at Concordia Hospital; Units 3East and N1. Your care and concern for his well-being will forever be remembered and cherished. He was positively grateful for the compassion and care he was shown. He always said, "they take such good care of me here." From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much! Also, thank you to the staff at Cropo Funeral Chapel for your professionalism, kindness and support. As per Dennis' wishes, immediate family and close friends are invited for dinner in his honour, to celebrate his life on Saturday, July 12 at 5:00 p.m. at 2188 McPhillips St.

I have many fond memories of you, Uncle Denny. I feel so far away, being in Melbourne. However, I am so very grateful to be able to have fun chats with you in recent weeks. I love you very much and I will always still think of you on Father's Day as I do with all my uncles that were amazing role models growing up. - Posted by: Calista Stuttard (Niece) on: Jul 11, 2014

Dennis was always a sweet and kind person to be around, he had a really good sense of humor and was always making us giggle. I grew up across the street from the family and knew and loved all of the Ottenbreits . Dennis had his struggles but he always had a good outlook on life especially after he started being a father. His children were his world and he was very happy with that. Dennis you will be missed. Hugs for a safe journey to heaven. - Posted by: Francine Emler (Family Friend in our youth) on: Jul 11, 2014
