LESLIE JAMES GRIFFIN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leslie James Griffin (Jim), at the age of 86 years, on July 8, 2014. Jim was predeceased by his wife Eileen, grandson Trevor, parents James Griffin Senior, and Annie (nee Schwartz), brothers Ben, Harry, Lloyd, and Dan, sisters Cora, Mary, Fern, Grace, and Margaret. Left to cherish his memory are his children Ken (Liz), Alaunia Frances (Bob), Brian (Lynda), and Leslie (Maureen), grandchildren Michael (Kim), Andrew, Daniel, Kevin, Ashlee, Lindsey, great-grandchildren Branson, Justin, Jordan, Courtney, and Tyler, brother Earl (Gwen), and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Planky Plains, Manitoba, Dad grew up on the farm where he learned the value of family and that hard work paid off. Upon moving to Winnipeg and prior to becoming an apprentice electrician, Dad worked part-time at the Silver Heights Riding Stable to pay for his high school education. As a journeyman electrician, Dad worked for Imperial Oil, Winnipeg Supply and retired from Manitoba Hydro as a Senior Electrical Inspector in 1993. Dad met his beloved wife of 62 years, Eileen, in 1945, and together they raised their four children in Winnipeg. Dad became involved in many community activities, such as aiding in the construction of the Melrose Park Community Centre, square dancing, playing cards and coaching baseball. Other interests were travelling, snowmobiling, and riding his quad. Dad loved his cottage at Ingolf, Ontario. It is here he spent most of his summer days, weekends and retired life in the company of family and lifelong friends. Dad was never one to sit around; he always had a project on the go, whether it was at his cottage or lending a hand or his expertise to others around the lake. Viewing will be held from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the charity of your choice. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

As friends of Les, Maureen, Ashlee and Lindsey we would always hear that he was the 'rock' of the family, involved in all of the family celebrations, sports and activities, and especially always willing to help out whenever asked.
