Raised by foster parents Jane and Gordon Johnston, Stephenfield, MB. Survived by his wife Eileen, three sons, Cal, Gordon (Diane) and Doug (Brenda), five grandchildren Sheane, Lisa, Steven, Brett and Derek, six great-grandchildren, Quinn, Reese, Nicholas, Kathryn, Bynn, Gavin. Married for 69 years. Served in the Armed Forces from 1944 - 1969 and Civilian work force with BACM - McCosham Vanlines. Retired in 2000, took sick with a stroke and Alzheimer in 2012. Melvel passed away July 12, 2014. He donated his body to the University of Manitoba. No service till later.
