SALLY BIRD (nee PENNER) Peacefully at Victoria Hospital in London, ON on Monday, May 19, 2014, in her 86th year. Beloved mother of Wendy (Robert), Fred, Tony, David, Tim (Gorete), Rosemary (Carlos), and Naomi (Mark). Dear grandmother of Monica (Clint), Melissa (Harry), Roslyn (Kris), Matthew, Ana Laura (Juan Carlos), Sara, Emily and Alexandra, great-grandmother of Cameron. Sally is survived by her sisters Margaret and Elma, brother Bob and former husband Ray. Predeceased by Mary, Pete, Ellen, Doris, Edna, and Eddie. Aunt Sally will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews. Sally touched so many lives with her strong desire to help others during her years as an educator. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her loving family. On Sunday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m. a ceremony and interment will be conducted at the Memorial Cemetery, 20 McKenzie Ave., Steinbach, MB. Reception to follow with refreshments at the SkyLite Family Restaurant, 12 Brandt Street, Steinbach. Memorial contributions to a charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged.

I am shocked and saddened to hear this news. Mrs Bird was a brilliant source of positivity and inspiration. Her acute details in storytelling helped shape, form and mold her students. I, along with my family had the privilege of knowing Mrs Bird outside of confines of just a teacher. She was a friend, a confidant and a role model.
