LUCIE MARGUERITE JOSEPHINE LAVALLEE March 2, 1924 - July 15, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and nanny, Lucie Marguerite Josephine Lavallée (née Goulet) on July 15, 2014 at Actionmarguerite (formerly Foyer Valade), at the age of 90 years. Lucie will be fondly remembered and cherished by her daughter Ghislaine (Richard) Lambert and grandchildren David (Joanne) Lambert, Kelly Lambert, Charlene (Kris) Heieie and her great-grandchildren, Christian, Mattieu, Liam, and Gavin. She will be missed by her sisters, Agnes Goulet, Artha Anderson, Gisèle Bates, Jean Pickard, her brother Roger (Cheryl) Goulet, her sisters-in-law, Marie (George) Tetarenko, Claire Mickelson, brothers-in-law, Ovide Lavallée, Gabriel (Marie-Louise) Lavallée, and many nephews, nieces and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Juliette Goulet, her loving husband of 33 years, John Lavallée and her sister Denise Obelnicki. Lucie was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Lorette, MB. At the age of 17, she was diagnosed with polio and eventually went to Deer Lodge Hospital for rehabilitation where she met the love of her life, John. They were married on April 20, 1949. In 1959 they adopted their beautiful daughter, Ghislaine. Lucie worked 20 years at the Misericordia Hospital as an Admitting Clerk. She devoted her life to her family. Throughout the years, Lucie enjoyed numerous trips to Cuba and developed long time friendships. She was always helping and concerned for others. She was a talented seamstress and an avid jewelry maker. She is remembered for her knowledge as she consistently won Jeopardy in the Lambert household. The family would like to thank the staff at Foyer Valade for their care, kindness and support of our mother and nanny. A special thank you to Anita, Comforts of Home Care, for her care and loving attention during Lucie's final years. In keeping with Lucie's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street with a reception to follow.
