FRANCES JONASSON (nee ZACHARCHUK) Peacefully, on the morning of July 11, 2014, Frances "Fran" Jonasson passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB after a short battle with cancer. Frances was born on November 22, 1936 in the RM of Bifrost, near Arborg, MB. In June of 1955, she married Parmes Elmar Jonasson, moving to Winnipeg to raise Dean Parmes and Susan Marianne (Wolfe), both of Winnipeg, MB. Frances is also survived by her granddaughter Cassandra Wolfe and partner Raven, brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael Mitch' and Eileen Zacharchuk (St. Pierre, MB), Gordon and Anne Zacharchuk (Welland, ON), Lou Zack (Thorold, ON), Norman and Josey Zacharchuk (Guildford, England) and Fran's twin, Victor Zacharchuk (St. Catharines, ON). Frances was preceded in death by her grandparents Wasyl and Evdokia Zacharchuk and Theodor and Rozalia Rominski and parents Peter and Anna Zacharchuk. Fran was a loving, supportive wife and mother as well as an "extended mother" to the young friends who dropped in for coffee, cinnamon buns and advice. She enjoyed reading, shopping and car travel with many great road and camping trips with Parm. Later, she developed a passion for power walking and accessed nearby Assiniboine Park as much as possible. Fran was organized, opinionated and never ordinary. Parmes, Susan and Dean would like to express their gratitude to the many dedicated and compassionate professionals at the Grace Hospital, Health Sciences Centre and CancerCare Manitoba. Their care for Frances as well as support to the family made this difficult passage easier to bear. In accordance with Fran's wishes cremation has taken place and a private celebration will be held at a later date. It was Fran's wish that donations be made in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to deanpj06@mymts.net. Bardal Funeral Home and Crematorium 204-774-7474 www.bardal.ca
