ROBERT FREDERICK FRASER July 1, 1929 - July 18, 2014 Robert Frederick Fraser peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family, at the Grace Hospital on July 18, 2014 at the age of 85. Bob leaves to mourn his loving wife Diane, of 62 years. He also leaves his daughters Linda (Michael) Casey, Susan (Carl) Palmeruk, Jill (Trevor) Newell, Alison (Don) Sommerfield and his 10 wonderful grandchildren: Sean (Laura), Cole (Heather) and Taya (Matt Isaac) Palmeruk; Lauren and Jennifer Casey; Danielle (Bryce Pellerin) and Mitchell Newell; Carly (Logan Burbank), Chelsey and Brittany Sommerfield. Bob grew up on Ashburn Street and attended Daniel Mac High School. Bob met Diane at the dance hall in Grand Beach in 1950 and were married in 1952. They built a house in St. James in 1955, where they lived for 54 years, raising their four daughters. Bob was a wonderful father and always proud of his girls. He enjoyed many successful years in the sales field working for Singer Sewing Machines, Cooper Widman, Ralph S. Plant and R. F. Fraser Sales. Bob was fortunate to retire at the age of 58. For over 50 years, the family enjoyed many special moments at their cottage at West Hawk Lake. The door was always open to everyone who visited. Not only were Bob and Diane Arizona snow birds for 21 winters, they also travelled extensively throughout their lives, including the U.K., Vancouver Island, Hawaii and the Caribbean. The family would like to welcome you to a celebration of Bob's life at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Wednesday, July 23 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to be made to FARA (Friedreich's Ataxia Research Association) at www.curefa.org or by phone at (484) 879-6160. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Thinking of you Diane at this sad time, we spent some happy days together, I hope the sun will shine again soon for you and your family, I am now living in the UK and will be unable to attend the Memorial Service for Bob but my condolences are with you. • Myself and the Ted Miles family including all my brothers and sisters have been close to Bob, Diane and the girls since we were young kids growing up in Winnipeg. Every Christmas dinner and at the cottage in the summer or other family events he was always there with a smile and a happy heart. As an uncle he was like a second father to me some times. I spent a lot of time with him over the years and he would always greet you with that million dollar smile and a hearty hug or hand shake. I have never seen him be unkind, negative or selfish...it was always about the person he was with, not him. He had a larger than life personality but not in a boastful way. His persona was warm and loving and his heart was even warmer. I will miss him greatly but go through life being a better person for having known him. He is one of my heroes. - Posted by: Brian Miles (nephew) on: Jul 23, 2014

  • We were welcomed by the Fraser family as the "new" neighbours at the lake and appreciated the opportunity to get to know the "clan" as we settled in. Will be sure to raise a glass for Bob at the annual golf and dinner event this year. - Posted by: Harbottle Family (Lake Neighbours) on: Jul 22, 2014

  • To all the Fraser girls - all the memories you have will help you through - remember to laugh and recall all the good times - he was a great man who was loved and respected by all. I am feeling your loss and my prayers and thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Wendy (Weerts) (Family Friend - from the neighbourhood) on: Jul 22, 2014

  • Our prayers are with family and friends. Bob was a fine gentleman. - Posted by: larry and betty hammond (friend) on: Jul 21, 2014

  • As the family gathers together during this time, I send you all strength and much love. As you comprehend this profound loss, let yourself cry knowing each tear is a note of love rising to the heavens. - Posted by: Deborah Collis-Gorby (Linda's friend) on: Jul 21, 2014
