JULIA HELEN STACEY It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julia Stacey at Lions Personal Care Centre on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the age of 95. Her passing brings an end to a generation but she leaves behind a large close-knit family. Julia was born in St. Norbert on September 1, 1918 and she was the youngest child in her family of 12 children. She moved to Winnipeg after high school to complete her education at Success Business College and she had a very successful career working for Revenue Canada. She was intelligent, independent and respected by her peers. Julia was above all a kind, gentle and generous woman who was extremely proud of and supportive of her large family. She loved all her brothers and sisters and their children and grandchildren. She was in fact the family historian who kept in touch with everybody and loved being a part of the ever changing family story. She baked endless cookies, cakes and muffins for all of us and kept us warm with her knitted mittens, scarves and hats. Julia lived for many years with her sister Katherine and her family (Paul, Don, Roger and Betty) who felt blessed to have her be such an integral part of their life. Mother's Day for us was a celebration of Katherine and Julia. We admired and loved her and will miss her enormously. Julia was predeceased by her husband Stan, her brothers Harry, Steve, Bill and Nick; sisters Katherine, Mary, Nellie, Olga, Pauline, Stella and Rosie. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, and her son Danny. We wish to extend our sincere thanks to the caregivers at Lions Personal Care Centre for the gentle care they provided during her stay. Viewing will take place at 10:30 a.m. and funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Thomson "In the Park" Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 204-586-8044
