WILLIAM KENNETH MILLAR W. Kenneth Millar, 67, of Wetaskiwin, passed away on July 18, 2014. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 24 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wetaskiwin at one o'clock. Ken was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 27, 1947. He graduated from Silver Heights Collegiate and attended University of Winnipeg. Ken was married to Rose Bernacki on September 27, 1970. Ken worked as a gas fitter for Greater Winnipeg Gas and after moving to Wetaskiwin worked for Samson Gas for over 20 years. Ken met many wonderful people while he worked there and many became like family to him. Family came first to Ken. He taught his children to enjoy the great outdoors with many camping trips and wilderness hikes (Chickadee Park). He loved canoeing and built his own cedar strip canoe and then helped all his children to build their own. He was a dog lover and just lost his buddy Murphy. Even though Ken left Winnipeg, Winnipeg never left his heart and was part of many family vacations. The Bombers and the Jets were an important part of Ken's life and everyone in Wetaskiwin knew it. Ken is survived by wife Rose, son Jeremy (Kim), daughter Lisa, and Dan (Tanya), his mother Jean Anson, and brother Douglas, and his precious grandchildren and his wonderful nieces and nephews. Ken is preceded in death by father William and brother Brian. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Alberta S.P.C.A.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Rose and Children, and Jean I am so very sorry for your great loss, I have no words that could comfort you at a time like this, love to all of you - Posted by: Bonnie Cooper () on: Jul 24, 2014

  • Ken and I were good friends at Silver Heights Collegiate. He was such a gentle guy and was always willing to do anything for anyone. He had a close group of friends through high school and I was happy to be a part of it. Although we lost track of each other, I thought about him often, wondering how he was doing. I'm very saddened to learn he has passed so young. But I'm not at all surprised that he was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa. Rest in peace Ken. - Posted by: Marg (MacFadyen) Wilson (friend) on: Jul 23, 2014
