ANNE COWTUN 1911 - 2014 Peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Kildonan Personal Care Center, Anne Cowtun passed away. She lived a long full life and was beloved by her family and those who cared for her at Kildonan Personal Care Center in her later years. Anne was born and grew up in Winnipeg in a family that had recently emigrated from what is now Western Ukraine. She graduated early from St. John's High School where she was a track star, an avid basketball player, and enjoyed English and Drama classes. In 1942, she married Anthony George Cowtun who owned and operated a pharmacy in Winnipeg for many years. Anne became a devoted mother to her two daughters, Elisabeth and Marguerite. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her sisters, Jennie, Tess, and Min. Following the untimely death of her husband in 1961, Anne returned to work as an administrative secretary for the Manitoba Government in the Department of Mining Engineering. Her retirement was highlighted by trips and cruises to Europe and the Far East. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her family, including her two daughters, Elisabeth Swink and husband Mike of Ambler, Pennsylvania; Dr. Marguerite Cowtun and husband Henry of Bethesda, Maryland; two granddaughters, Simone and Nicole of New York City; a grandson, Jonathan Terrell of Stuttgart, Germany; and a great-niece, Karen Sinclair of Seattle, Washington.
