GERTRUDE LAVALLEE On July 16, 2014, our beloved mother, Gertrude Lavallée (née Roy), went peacefully into the Lords embrace. Daughter of late Zéphérina (Milette) and Charles Roy, Maman was born on March 6, 1922. She was also predeceased by our dad Edouard (August 23, 2002), her three sons Marc, René-Olivier, René and her grandson Jean-Marie, her brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her six children: Berthe (Louis), Annette (Rhéal), Nicole (Jean Pierre), Marcelle (Richard), Alain (Christine), Lise (Denis), daughter-in-law Diane Lavallée, along with 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren. She was a dearly loved and treasured mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her absence will be deeply felt. Her courage, strength and smile gave hope to us all; we will cling to our treasured moments. Mom always gave to others unselfishly in the love for her immediate and extended family. She was a voracious reader, a gifted poet, an amateur historian, an advocate for truth, and we won't forget her green thumb. Mom left us with the greatest gift of all, the most important and rewarding career, that of a mother. Please do not cry for her, for her joy is great within our hearts. According to Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place, prayers and a Resurrection Mass will be held on August 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Eglise St. Norbert, 80 rue St. Pierre, St. Norbert, MB. A private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to Mom's charity - The Leprosy Mission Canada.
