SHARON LOUISE SHELDON (GARRY) 1948 - 2014 On Sunday, July 20, 2014 Sharon passed away quietly in her home, surrounded by her family, at age 65. Sharon was predeceased by her father Chris Garry. She leaves behind her mother Betty Garry, her husband Wayne Sheldon, her son Chris McIvor (Lisa), her stepdaughters Debbie, Darlene (Dave), Gina Sevick (Todd), and Jodi, along with the loves of her life her five grandchildren: Lukas, Rhys, Maddie, Spencer, and Cole. Also left to mourn are her brothers Andy Garry (Carol) and Lawrence Garry (Pat), as well as nieces and nephews Laura (Jay), Alex, Jonathan, Sean (Mellisa), Jessica and Amber. Having grown up in Fort Rouge, she attended Riverview Elementary and Churchill High School, graduating in 1965. For many years she continued to live in Fort Rouge before moving to Kelowna, BC, then Balmoral, Manitoba, and finally Headingley, Manitoba. Sharon loved to sew and quilt. She turned her hobby into her own business, Prairie Breeze LongArm Quilting, which she operated until earlier this year when her illness didn't allow her to continue any longer. She met so many people and started great new friendships in the sewing community. Sharon was also one to always lend a hand. In her retirement she volunteered with the Balmoral Community Hall, the Stonewall Legion and many charities. She was also a dog lover, never to be with out at least one dog in her adult life she leaves behind two of her best friends Treble and Cooper. In the years following her retirement Wayne and Sharon travelled as much as possible. She loved their home in Texas and always looked forward to their trips down south and the new found friends they made there. Even while battling her illness she managed one last trip down to Texas with Wayne this past February. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Southern Manitoba Palliative Care program. Dr. Woelk made it possible for Sharon to fulfill her wishes and remain at home for her final month. A heartfelt thank you also to nurse Emily Gray, the daily nurses and the rest of the staff from the Palliative Care program for their incredible caring and compassion. The family can not thank you enough. We would also like to thank Dr. Wong and nurses Erin, Cheryl and the entire staff at CancerCare Manitoba/St. Boniface General Hospital. A memorial service will be held for Sharon at Stonewall United Church on Monday, July 28 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception immediately afterwards at the Stonewall Legion hall.
