NEIL GORDON STEWART September 15, 1918 to July 19, 2014 Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Concordia Hospital on Saturday morning after a lengthy battle with complications arising from heart failure. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in September, 1982 and his daughter Marjorie in 1952 as well as his sisters Marion McMullen, Helen Lovett, and brothers Charlie and Keith Stewart. He is survived by his special friend Anna Kraynyk, his daughter Linda Arklie (Wayne), and his sons Ron (Judy Fykes) and Don (Laverna Chaboyer), his brother Jack Stewart of Victoria B.C., and his brother in law Allan Sampson of Edmonton AB, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dad was born and raised in the Killarney area, and served in the army in The Second World War. He then worked 36 years for Bird Construction in various capacities. He later joined the Manitoba Red Cross as building custodian until his retirement. Neil enjoyed bowling with his friends at Rossmere Lanes and playing pool with his friends at 210 and 220 Oakland. According to Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Avenue, on July 30, 2014 at 7:00 pm. Interment will take place at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street, at a later date. The family especially want to thank Anna Kraynyk whose care and companionship enhanced Dad's life for over 30 years. The family also wish to thank the staff of 3 West at the Concordia Hospital for their care during Dad's final few days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.   • I remember meeting your Dad on several occasions at Matlock, where my mother also had a cottage down the street from yours. Don was also my boss at Gordon Hotels, as well as both of us going to Lord Selkirk School.
