Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES MALAZDREWICZ Frances Victoria Maladrewicz, (nee Maycher) passed away peacefully, with dignity, on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg Manitoba. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 50 years, Anthony (1925 to 2000), and by her daughter Valerie (1957 to 2012). A woman of great emotional strength, and profound wisdom, Frances embraced life, touching everyone with her humility, love, and playful humour. She was born a farm girl on June 1, 1927, at Alonsa, Manitoba, fourth child of Katie Tolpa and Andrew (Henry) Maycher. The family moved, in 1939, to acreage near Minitonas, Manitoba. She and Anthony (Tony) were married on June 10, 1950, in Swan River, Manitoba. She is mourned by her children Christopher (Christine), Lois, Glenn (Ronda), Andrew (Shirley), as well as her grandchildren, Katie, Cecilia, Nathaniel, Nicholas (Jen), Noah, Corinne, Brooke, Colin, Maryse, and Rachel, and by her great-grandson, Anthony. Also left to mourn are brothers Clifford and Edward Maycher, sister Mary Yakielashek, brother-in-law Edward Malazdrewicz, sisters-in-law Josephine and Gayle Malazdrewich, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Frances expressed her creative instincts through her many crafts and through her writing. A natural musician, she played accordion and fiddle, passing on her love of music to her family. She was also an avid curling fan, glued to the TV whenever tournaments were broadcast. We will all miss her deeply, but will continue to be inspired by who she was, and by how she lived her life. A memorial service celebrating Frances' life, will be held on Wednesday, July 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, officiated by Monseigneur Louis McCloskey. Light refreshments will follow. Interment of her ashes will take place at a later date, in a private ceremony at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frances's name to the cancer charity of your choice. "A mother's arms are made of tenderness and children sleep soundly in them." -Victor Hugo
