Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHELE HEATHER DAY (nee KOZYRA) 1952 - 2014 Michele Heather Day, aged 61 years died peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. She was born August 3, 1952 in Beausejour, MB. On February 15, 1975, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert George Day. Together they built a successful dental practice in the town of Winkler, MB and worked happily side by side until his tragic passing on October 28, 1997. In the years following her husband's death, Michele showed resilience and found great joy working with young people at Winkler Elementary School and at "The Bunker." Michele dearly cherished time spent with family, and was often heard singing along with her favourite songs or filling the house with song on her own. She enjoyed travel, nature, and sharing a laugh with friends. Throughout her final years, Michele bravely faced the devastating consequences of chronic illness with humour, grace and integrity. Despite many struggles, she filled the lives of those who knew her with love, laughter and generosity. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Darren Day, daughter, Heather Day, parents, Peter and Edna Kozyra, sister, Maureen Day and husband, Daniel, their children, Mathiew and Colleen and grandson, Ayden, her brother, David Kozyra and wife, Connie, their children, Benjamin (Colleen), Maggie (Jacob) and Patrick and grandchildren, Claire and Celeste as well as countless friends, neighbours, aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be greeted in heaven by her husband Robert, his parents George and Maxine Day, and her beloved dogs Chloe and Shep. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 1111 Southview Dr. in Winkler MB followed by a reception. Your mom's nickname in Beausejour was Pickles, because she used to work at Larry's Chip Stand and always asked if we wanted pickles with our burgers. Even when we met as grown women, in our 50's, I still called her Pickles. We got to know Michelle last year when she stayed with us during some of her treatments in Winnipeg. Tyler was her helper daily and we all grew to love her! She was always happy and wanted to help out around the house as much as she could! She will be dearly missed. Our deepest sympathies to Peter & Edna, & Darren & Heather and the rest of the family.
