NANCY ANNE RICHMOND (nee SWAN) Nancy, with her loving family by her side passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the age of 83 years. She had been a resident of the Parkview Place nursing home for the past two months. Left to cherish Nancy's memory are her brother Jack Swan (Irene), nephews Jack, Marty, Jeff, Bob, Ken and niece Cindy; brother Bill Swan (Fran), niece Allison and nephew Daniel; sister Eleanor DeCock (Frank) and nieces Lisa and Paula; brotherinlaw George Woolley, nephews George, Dean and niece Gina; uncle Howie Swan and cousins Brian, Dale and Kevin; aunt Nan and uncle Alf Brisbois and cousins Karen, Bill and Tom; and aunt Ethel and cousins Beryl and Robbie. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years Bob; parents, Johnnie and Fannie Swan; and her sister Margaret Woolley. On April 16, 1931 Nancy was born in Winnipeg and after completing high school at Lord Selkirk she moved to St. Catharines, Ontario, where she met and married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Richmond on May 4, 1956. Nancy started her career doing bookkeeping for a furniture store and hotel. She also established a very successful dog grooming business. She had a great love for animals treating all with special care and training. Nancy loved her entire family with all her heart and had a continuing love and interest for all of her nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her. After her husband died in 2004, she returned to Winnipeg the following year. The family would like to express their most sincere thanks to Dr. Wes Palatnick and all the staff who attended Nancy at the Health Sciences Centre Emergency. We would also like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care given to Nancy during her brief stay at Parkview Place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3, or a charity of your choice. In keeping with Nancy's wishes, her final resting place will be in St. Catharines alongside her beloved husband Bob. A private family gathering will be held at a future date.
