DAVID ALLAN GUTTMAN September 7, 1960 - July 12, 2014 It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of David Allan Guttman. David passed away July 12, 2014 with his loving family and friends by his side. David is survived by his loving father Sandor, daughter Rachel and son Daniel. He was predeceased by his spouse Liz in 2008 and his mother Susan in 2004. David was born in Montreal, he moved with his family to Winnipeg in 1970. Residing in River Heights he made and retained many life long friends that he met at school and from the neighbourhood. David graduated from Robson Hall Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba in 1985 receiving his Bachelor of Laws degree and was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Manitoba in 1986. That same year he joined the firm McRoberts Law Office LLP. David had a brilliant mind and loved practicing law, counselling became his greatest passion. David was loved by so many people, this became evident during his short battle with cancer from all the calls and visits he received. This made his final days more peaceful. David was a loving and dedicated son, father and friend. He made sure all who he loved knew it. David was a caring man who put his family and friends above his own needs. David's passions outside of law included playing cards with his buddies, baseball, tennis, and attending many sporting events with his son Daniel at his side. Most recently David and his children spent many days and special times at his second home in Gimli. David liked to soak up the sunshine, laugh and enjoy the beautiful scenery out at the lake. David also enjoyed many card games at Don's cottage on Lake Manitoba noting how much he loved the sun sets. David treated his family and friends with dignity, love and respect. We are all far greater people by having shared our lives with David. He will be lovingly remembered by his father Sandor, daughter Rachel, son Daniel and special friend Tracy. Funeral Services were held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on July 14, 2014. Special thanks to the Palliative Care staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for all of their care and efforts. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I was naturally shocked and saddened to hear of David's passing. I was a close friend of Liz Guttman from about the age of 22, until her untimely and very unfortunate passing. She was a lovely person, a most loyal friend, a gentle soul. Her children and family life were everything. I found Dave genial, warm and kind. I can only assume that Liz and Dave are now together for eternity, albeit one would have hoped they would live long lives. My heart goes out to Rachel and Daniel Guttman; may they find peace, joy and especially, strength in the memory of their late mother and father who only wanted the world for them. Barbara J. Sowak "Among the many signs of a lively faith and hope we have in eternal life, one of the surest is not being overly sad at the death of those whom we dearly love in our Lord." • Dave had that rare ability to make everyone feel like he was their special friend. At least that is the way everyone feels at the office. We all miss him terribly. - Posted by: Jodi Hagemier (Dave's Assistant) on: Aug 15, 2014
