RALPH ARTHUR NELSON Ralph Arthur Nelson passed peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 75. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 29 years, Brenda Walpole, his sister Cheryl (John) Gerrard, sister-in-law Ellenore, son Randy (Kim) Nelson and grandchildren Casey and Wesley Nelson, stepson Cory (Angie) Walpole and grandchildren Mackenzie, Ethan and Addison Walpole, stepson Chad (Stefanie) Walpole and grandchildren Aden and Ty Walpole and stepson Chris Walpole. Ralph will be missed as well by his niece Karen (Kerry) Sagness, great-nieces Mikaela and Keanna, nephews Jeff Nelson and John Gerrard, great-nieces Gillian and Chloe, nephews David Gerrard, Darren (Sophie) Gerrard, great-nephew Liam, cousins Leonard, Marielle and Colin Brentnall and Michael Brentnall, along with numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Margaret Nelson, and brother Bill Nelson. Ralph was born on March 18, 1939 in Winnipeg, MB. By middle school he was apprenticing as a letterpress pressman at Evans printing. There he completed his apprenticeship and earned his journeyman papers. He went to work as a pressman for Wallingford Press, Hignell Printing and in 1976 he started his own business, Kildonan Printing Ltd., which he ran with his son Randy for 24 years. He continued working as a pressman throughout his retirement and into the final months of his life. Special thank you to his niece Karen Sagness for her care and compassion. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff of N3W at Concordia Hospital and Palliative Care Unit for their care and support during this trying time. A celebration of Ralph's life will take place Wednesday, August 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Highway. A private interment will be held at a later date for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ralph's memory to the Concordia Foundation. VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME 204-668-3151

  • Our mother Joan Cook (deceased) and family have been good friends with Ralph. Mom went to Grand Forks with Roy, Ralph and Brenda for many years.
