ROBERT DERRETT It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Bob Derrett on August 9, 2014. Left to cherish Bob's memory is his wife of 39 years Candace, his three daughters Kelly, Darcy, Hayley, son Cory; son-in-law Troy. Grandchildren Payten, Morgan, Rowan and Ethan. Mother Helen and father Bryan; brothers Ken, Tom and sister Marti; mother-in-law Myrtle Hladun, sisters-in-law Valerie, Susan, Denise and Jen. Brothers-in-law Cal, Mike, Randy, Jason, and Glenn. Bob was born in Winnipeg in 1952, and grew up in the North End before moving to St. James. Bob attended Silver Heights Collegiate where he enjoyed playing sports and hanging out with all his buddies. Candace and Bob met in St. James where they shared their lives together, raising their four children. The unconditional love Bob had for his wife was something truly special and he lived for that every day of his life. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and son. He had a passion for the family cottage, military and antique cars. Bob's ultimate passion was spending time with his family and beautiful grandchildren at the cottage or on vacation. His family and cottage created many lasting memories that provided him tremendous joy. He had an unselfish nature about him that built life-long bonds with all his family and friends. Bob was also known for the relationships he built with people during an extensive career in the insurance business. His extensive network of customers and colleagues stretched across the province and are still maintained after retiring from a successful 16 year career with Ranger Insurance. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, followed by a reception. In Bob's memory donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Just saw Bob's notice, many memories came flooding back from our times growing up together...had not seen Bob in many a year as my wife and I moved to Arizona and then back to Kenora for a total of 25 or so years. My condolences to all of you, I hope you're all doing well. Writing this, I can still see his infectious smile after all that time. We enjoyed some great times together Bob, R.I.P. My friend.....Lance - Posted by: Lance Summers (Old friend) on: Nov 04, 2014
