Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE AGNES SUTTON (nee MCLAREN) On July 8, 2014, at Sherwood Care Home in Alberta, Elsie passed away peacefully in her 91st year. Elsie was born October 1, 1923 at home in Roland, Manitoba. She married Lawrence Sutton on August 18, 1943. Elsie worked in the Roland telephone office while Lawrence served overseas, and worked there again from 1966 until the telephone office closed. After the war, they farmed west of Roland and raised three children. Elsie was very active in her community. She was a 4-H leader, member of the agricultural society, the curling club, and the golf club. In 1997, she moved to Sherwood Park, Alberta, and continued with her bowling, quilting, bingo and card playing. Over the years she enjoyed trips to the Yukon, British Columbia, Nebraska, Nevada, Arizona and Cuba to visit and have fun with family. She will lovingly be remembered by her three children, Kathryn (Manfred) Drews, Jim (Debbie), and Margaret (Brian) Radford. Her six grandkids, Derek (Robyn) Drews, Brendan (Michelle) Drews, Jason Sutton, Deanna Sutton (Jamie Funk), Scott (Denise) Radford, Christa Radford have fond memories of her. She also leaves seven great-grandkids: Jordan, Alanna, and Samantha Drews, Jack Sutton, Aiden, Makayla, and Evan Radford. Also left are four sisters and three brothers: Grace Sprecher, Clarke McLaren, Irma Jean (Ed) Gera, Ella (Lorne) Bartley, David (Elaine) McLaren, Duncan (Deb) McLaren, Marion (Don) Kitz, brother-in-law Laverne (Hazel) Sutton and sister-in-law Evelyn Sutton as well as many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Lawrence, parents Don and Laura McLaren, sister-in-law Betty McLaren, brothers-in-law Ian Urquhart, Herb Sprecher, and Robert Sutton. Funeral services will be held at the Roland United Church on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roland United Church.
