Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD OSBORNE MACLEAN With heavy hearts, the family of Gerald Osborne MacLean, announces his passing on Thursday, August 14, 2014, after a brief, but intense, battle with cancer. Through the floor of Heaven, Jerry will be watching over those he has left behind. His wife, Karen, of 35 years, daughters Megan (Jess Zebrun) of Winnipeg, Lisa, and his granddaughter, Addison, of Argyle, and, Shannon (Jaycen Goodman) of Teulon. Jerry was born May 17, 1946, in Bible Hill, NS. He was the son of the late Jack and Ada (Retson) MacLean. Jerry also leaves behind his brother Don, (Elizabeth), John (Karen) of Bible Hill, NS; Bob (Marilyn) of Wentworth, NS; and his sister, Sally Archibald (Frank) of Harmony, NS. Jerry has several nieces and nephews from many locations throughout Canada and the U.S. He especially loved getting Facebook family updates from niece, Julie, all the way from Texas. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, brother-in-law Art Archibald and nephew Scott Archibald. As a lover of baseball, Jerry enjoyed years of playing ball with the St. Charles Saints. He was affectionately known as that 'wicked windmill pitcher with three fingers'. Jerry's many friends included former co-workers from Boeing of Canada and Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg. He was especially grateful for the times spent with community friends Ernie, Lee, Heather, Ken, Ben and Candy and Frenchie. Retired since 2001, Jerry enjoyed his time quietly home on the Argyle farm with his bulldog, Rambo, fussing over his lawn, being a busy 'Papa' to Addison, and caring for his girl's horses, allowing Karen and daughters to follow their equine passion and pony club. For that his 'four ladies' are forever grateful. His quick one-liners and dry sense of humour will be a trademark remembered by those who touched Jerry's life, in both Manitoba and Nova Scotia. The family thanks Dr. Pinniger, Dr. Ventor and their caring, passionate nursing/health care aide staff of Stonewall Hospital. Special thanks also to Vera Appleyard, her palliative care team; Sherri Buors and her home care team/ nurses Donna and Marie; and Doug Hogg and the generous souls from the Warren & District Lions for the wheelchair ramp, that allowed Jerry one more visit home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Stonewall District Palliative Care Program. A celebration of life will take place on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m at Argyle Community Centre. A message from your girls, Jerry: 'Rest in peace Dad, be pain free and may you forever putter around Heaven in your tractor, with a can of Lucky in hand. We will have a beer for you on September 6.'

So sorry to hear the sad news. Our condolences Karen & family. It's hard to believe how quickly time passes. I often think & laugh of all the wonderful ideas Gerry had about the many businesses he thought we should open in Stonewall. Thinking of you and wishing you strength during this difficult time. Our farm is quieter than ever without you, Jerry, but I feel you beside me, saying we'll be okay. When we lay you to rest on August 25th, up at 'the Church' we will have comfort knowing that this puts 'the man from Nova Scotia' beside the water, once again. May you forever be pain free and rest peacefully, listening to the waves of Shoal Lake. Love you more than I realized. - Posted by: Karen MacLean (spouse) on: Aug 16, 2014
