VERA MYRTLE SPEIDEL
Date of Passing: Aug 07, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERA MYRTLE SPEIDEL Peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Donwood Manor, Vera Speidel passed away at the age of 96 years. Vera leaves to mourn her passing son David (Lita), grandsons Ken and James (Sanne) and great-grandchildren Saskia and Jenna; son Ed (Mary); and daughter Heidi (George). She was predeceased by her husband, Henry, and seven older siblings. Mom was the ideal wife and mother, truly devoted in love to her husband and family. She deeply cherished each one of us and we were never far from her thoughts and prayers. Mom's abiding faith in God shone as a beacon on her path throughout life. Early on she stressed to us the importance of carefully choosing our way in life, always warning that "wide is the way and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many there be who go thereby". Mom encouraged us to "seek the narrow road that leads to Eternal life" instead and used bedtime stories to teach us the higher values of gratitude, kindness, thoughtfulness, honesty and forgiveness that make life truly beautiful and worth living. Mom and Dad were very happily married 53 years before his passing in July 1990. They were soul mates in every sense of the word and Dad's passing left a deep void in her heart. Although Mom's final years were extremely difficult and challenging, she bore them bravely with strength and dignity, trusting always in Him "who does all things well". We are comforted knowing our loving Mom is now reunited with our dear Dad in their eternal home and that we will see them again. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff on 2 North at Donwood Manor who always showed such love, respect and dignity to her. In keeping with Mom's wishes, a private family service has already taken place. Bardal Funeral Home & Crematorium 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
