Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRANDY NAISMITH SR. With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Randy Naismith Sr. on August 8, 2014, at the Gillam Hospital. Randy was born on July 9, 1955, in Whitemouth, MB. Randy leaves to mourn, his parents George and Wilma, sister Jan (Bob), brothers Kevin (Marilyn) and Jeff (Amy). He leaves behind his loving wife Mavis. His children Donnie (Tracy), Michael and Juanita (Mike), Juanita (Wesley), Randy Jr. (Audrey), Cheyenne (Chris), Benjamin. His grandchildren Owen, Cooper, Lukas, Josh, Pheonix, Kaya, Cielo, Ciara, Renee, Jaden, Jaylen, Randy III and Matthew. Randy moved to the north at the age of 17, where he learned to love the traditional way of life through John George and Rebecca Beardy and the family. He became an avid hunter, trapper, fisherman and outdoorsman. In 1991 Randy started his own outfitting company on the Fox River attracting hunters from Canada and the United States. Fox River Outfitters was his passion and was most at peace when he was at his "camp". Randy was a pitcher for fastball and softball and was a hard hitter that no one wanted to face. Randy was an active member of the community, touching many hearts with his kindness, passion and friendship. He will be greatly missed by many who knew him and will always remain a strong part of their lives. He was a very humble person, helping people where he could, expecting nothing in return and willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Randy loved his family and friends, always taking time to talk with them, whether it was serious conversation or a quick hello. His legacy in the north will never be forgotten and we will all meet up with him when our time has come. Randy you will be forever in our hearts.

He was a well respected Man in his community and truly loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed! Randy was a wonderful person always looking out for others. I moved out of Gillam and back to Grand Rapids. But my son decided he was going to stay behind. I got a phone call from Randy one day saying that he was concerned for my son Jimmy. He asked me if he was to talk Jimmy into it could he come home. So needless to say Randy was able to talk my son into coming home to me. And for that I will be forever grateful! Thank you Randy for the man that you were. I know there is a special place in heaven for you. Thank you again Sincerely Starr Marchant - Posted by: Starr Marchant (friend) on: Aug 24, 2014

A wonderful caring man that had a big heart , always there to help. I remember the time he was working for Town Services driving past my trailer after lunch when he chased n scared a very large black bear out of my gazebo, taking my infant son from my arms. As he was worried I'd drop him I was shaking so bad, that's just the kind of guy he was always there when you needed him. RIP Randy - Posted by: Catherine Watt (Friend) on: Aug 23, 2014

Randy & I shared the same birth day (July 9th). When Randy became aware of this, he ensured to come by the Front Desk of the Gillam Hospital where I worked, on that day every year thereafter, to wish me a Happy Birthday .... and I in return. I feel blessed to have shared this special yearly moment with Randy! In my thoughts and prayers...Julie - Posted by: Julie Parachoniak (Gillam Community Member) on: Aug 23, 2014
