As I write this I have to fight tears in my eyes as I know it is late in knowing of Boris' passing but I have to pen these few thoughts. I met Boris many years ago in a town called Melita when he was a rep for Husqavarna saws he was having supper at the hotel and being a user of Husky saws for years I had to talk to this "man" something I will always be glad I took the time to find and get to know him. He was a avid hunter to say the least and I introduced him to Glen Grierson of Tilston MB which started a long and close friendship until Glen passed away years later, that friendship Boris always thanked me for as those two spend many good times hunting together. I moved from Manitoba years ago to Nova Scotia but always kept in touch with Boris and when ever I would pass through Winnipeg we would always get together for at least a coffee. I feel some guilt that I did not know of his passing sooner but if I did I would of cried just as much. He is sleeping he will wake refreshed, to a life he only dreamed of here on this earth he loved so much, Boris I know you can't hear me but if you could, I miss you, rest till we meet again - Posted by: Dan Toth (Friend) on: Dec 13, 2016

Deepest sympathies, a true loss and far too soon; I remember a long walk one hot summer day with Boris and Marte @ Oak Hammock Marsh. My dog, Ness had fallen into a peat fire and burned all her pads on her four feet. Boris helped me carry her over our shoulders pretty close to a mile where our truck was parked; never forget that day. Every time I drive by there I think about him and Marte and a little female black lab. I never fail to relate that incident to my son. Boris was a true gentleman; a person that this world needs as a model for others to follow. I will miss his eagerness to do the right thing for the wildlife resources of Manitoba especially sharp-tailed grouse. - Posted by: Barry Verbiwski (Friend) on: Sep 19, 2014

Mr. Bachynski was my Grade 11 and 12 Biology and homeroom teacher at Grant Park High School in the early 70's. He was an excellent teacher - very methodical and clear with a fun sense of humour. We liked and respected him very much. It sounds like he had a good life - lots of love in it and lots of purpose. I am very happy to hear that. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on his passing. - Posted by: Terri Cherniack (ex-student) on: Sep 10, 2014

My heartfelt condolences go out to Marte and the kids - what a terrible loss of a great man. He was such a gentle, kind soul, I recall with fondness the fantastic stories he would share. At gatherings he would never "work the room"; rather he would make the effort to spend time with each person, engaging in fascinating conversation on such a variety of topics. As a child I thought of him simply as a tall, kind man, but as an adult I learned what a wonderful human being he was. To the family: no words can take away the pain but remember, he will walk on forever inside each of you. - Posted by: Lynne White (family friend) on: Aug 29, 2014

I knew Boris as a man of great intellect, talent and compassion. My contacts with Boris were limited to our school years at Gordon Bell High. I enjoyed a visit with him at a Gordon Bell reunion a couple of years ago. He is one for whom I had great respect. Saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to the Bachynski family. - Posted by: John Rendall (high school classmate/friend) on: Aug 23, 2014

Boris was a great friend, and a pillar in the community. His passion for tennis, and Victoria Beach were an inspiration to us all. He always managed to find a way to "get it done". Boris was a great storyteller and gentleman. I so enjoyed it when we would meet up when walking our dogs and stop to catch up on their lives. My sympathies on the loss of such a gentle man. - Posted by: Pat Gibson () on: Aug 23, 2014

It was always a joy meeting up with Boris over the years often at VB tennis courts where he always had some project underway. When he was playing regularly he would be on the next court perfecting his serve with a couple of buckets of balls. Great discussions and advice on what form of knee surgery was most effective. I'll miss you Boris. - Posted by: Jim August (Friend) on: Aug 23, 2014
