Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAI LIN (LENA) WONG After a short, but courageous battle with cancer, Wai Lin (Lena) Wong passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on August 27, 2014 with loved ones by her side. Wai Lin Mark was born on December 19, 1937 in the village of Baisha, Taishan county, Guangdong province, China. She grew up in the same area, the youngest of four siblings. She moved to Hong Kong on her own in 1961 seeking better employment opportunities. In 1965, she moved to Winnipeg where she married Quon Fae Wong. She worked hard at her sewing factory jobs and assisting her husband in his restaurant business until his retirement. After she retired, she devoted her time caring for her ailing husband. Although she herself only attained a Grade 8 education, she encouraged her five children to go on to university and attain professional degrees. Wai Lin leaves to mourn Quon Fae, her husband of 49 years; children Harley (Amy), Turnly (Cindy), Alice of Saskatoon, Jean (Leo) of Toronto, Virginia (Lawrence); brother Guo Jin Mark; grandchildren Melissa, Amanda, and Tyler Wong, Timothy and Steven Unger, Marco and Paul Zan, Caleb and Aaron Wong, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, oldest brother and sister. A viewing will be held at Bardal Funeral Chapel from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on August 28, 2014. A service celebrating her life will be held at Bardal Funeral Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on August 29, 2014 with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. A reception will follow at Golden Terrace Restaurant, 245 King Street at 12:30 p.m. The family wishes to thank Doctors Lotocki, Drobot and Macdiarmid, the staff of 6A West at St. Boniface General Hospital and the W.H.R.A. Palliative Care Team for their assistance in caring for Mom in her valiant fight during this illness. We would like to thank all friends and extended family who have lent their encouragement, support, and prayers in this difficult final part of Mom's life journey. Mom, you will be missed terribly. Your courage in facing so many life challenges, your devotion to your family, and your hard work will continue to be an inspiration to us.
