JEAN DOUGLAS (nee COCHRANE) 1926 - 2014 Jean was born in the Ottawa Valley and raised in Winnipeg. Raised in the West End on Agnes Street, Jean graduated from Daniel MacIntyre. Jean worked at Filmore Riley, and Electrical Supply where she met Jim and married the late James Douglas in 1952 at St. Pauls United Church (three smokestacks) on Notre Dame. Raising daughter Karen and late son Robert in East Kildonan, and Fort Garry, they moved to Port Coquitlam in the late 60s. Jean was a member of the Eastern Star of Winnipeg and Port Coquitlam for over 50 years. Jean enjoyed curling in Coquitlam, and volunteered for the Eagle Ridge Hospital Auxiliary for many years. After retiring from the British Columbia government, Jean volunteered many hours each week, for Shaw Cable community television in front and behind the camera. For the Miss Port Coquitlam pageant, Jean helped with public speaking with the contestants, and at times, Jean would volunteer for the Federal Liberal Party of Canada. Jean often returned to Winnipeg and Calgary to visit friends, and family and attend functions including many family weddings and reunions. Survived by Karen and grandaughter Jeanine and soon to be great-grandchild all from Vancouver. Her sisters Alice, and Liz from Calgary, brothers Bob (Margaret) Ottawa, Jack (Anne) Calgary, and Jim Winnipeg. Predeceased by her Mom Ruby Calgary, Dad Stewart and brother Douglas (Mildred) and also sister Marlene (Darwin) in January 2014 and toddler sister Mary Louise 1944. Jean and her unique good humor and wit will be missed by her many friends and other family members, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and great-grand-nieces and nephews of the Douglas and Cochrane Clans. Service will be held in Port Coquitlam, BC on September 26 at 1:00 pm. Friends and family are welcome to join us earlier and visit in the kitchen as we get ready, and after the service spend some time with us and tell a story.
