LEO BARIL Léo Baril, 77 passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Born and raised in St-Jean-Baptiste, MB, he had been a resident of Prince George BC for most of the last 60 years. He was predeceased by his parents Napoléon and Annette (Gauthier), his sisters Gisèle (Léon St-Godard) and Jeannine (Ulysses Dupuis) and his brother Philippe. He leaves his brother Paul (Claudette Nolette), his brother-in-law Léon St-Godard (Isabelle) and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Léo lived a life of independence exactly as he had wished it to be. What hardships he encountered along the way, he endured resolutely and as the happy warrior he was, went on with the business of living. One could say that he epitomized the values of the lumberjack that he was: strength, fearlessness, toughness and grit. His leisure hours were often spent reading. In his library, one could find books on geography, history, politics and many novels and other works of fiction. Cremation has already taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at a future date.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • God bless him and the rest of the family. I went to his home often as a teenager to spend time with Jeannine, his sister. I remember when he left "Baptiste" to go West with his buddies! - Posted by: Jeannine St Amant Gosselin (School friend of his sister Jeannine) on: Sep 02, 2014
