ERNIE BEREZOWSKI March 20, 1940 - September 8, 2014 After a courageous battle with cancer, Ernie passed away in his home. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Simone, and two sons Tod, Wayne (Rachel), three grandchildren Jordan (Kendall), Jade (Justin), and Jesse (Jenine), two great-grandchildren Zaidon, and Jaycee, sister Wendy (Doug) and brother Rick (Christine), and several nieces and nephews. Ernie was predeceased by his parents Steve and Mary Berezowski, and his sisters Dianne and Sharron Lynne, and great-granddaughter Jazlyn. Ernie raised his family in Winnipeg and then took several trade courses to learn to build his own home in East St. Paul where he lived for the last 39 years. Ernie took on the task of building another home several years later when he helped his son Wayne build his family home. Ernie was a hard worker and expected the same from others; he would take the time to teach you if you were willing to put in the time to learn. He was the kind of grandpa any child would want; if Mom and Dad say no just give him a call. Ernie worked for Continental Can for 25 years then started his own printing business Excel Press in 1989 where he worked until his passing. A huge thank-you goes out to Dennis and Joey who stuck with Ernie until the end to allow his business to continue. Without you this would not have been possible. Ernie was a longtime member of the East St. Paul Legion #215 and served as President for two years an accomplishment of which he was very proud of. He was also a member of the Lions Club, and spent countless hours donating his time. The family would like to thank the many people who stepped up in the last year lending a hand anytime they could driving Ernie to his dialysis appointments. A special thank-you goes out to Daniel Taschuk, Amo Lizon, Gordon Machej, and Wayne Hacking. To Vi Besson you have been a blessing to our family for the last year and words really aren't enough to thank-you. To the doctors and nurses at the Health Science Centre Dialysis Unit the family thanks you for your care and compassion. A celebration of Ernie's life will be held at the East St. Paul Legion #215 on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., 3600 DeVries Avenue. The family would like to extend a huge thank-you to all the Legion members and the Ladies Auxiliary for making this possible. If Ernie ever said to you "Well that isn't the way I'd do it" know you were secretly loved and respected. Rest in Peace BIG ERN you will be missed and loved forever. In lieu of flowers donations in Ernie's name can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
